Our home inspection company inspected a home in the Columbus Worthington area a few weeks ago and observed these floor tiles in fantastic condition. Due to age and other indications, they could be asbestos containing. If in good condition no need to have them removed.
Likely asbestos floor tiles in perfect condition in an older home. When in good condition there is no need to remove them. Keep them for the 60’s vibe or cover over them.
Decks are nice to have on your home. Decks extend the living space of your home to include part of the exterior. Decks however are often not built correctly. When we do home inspections in Central Ohio we often find decks that are in need of repairs and improvement.
Recently there was deck collapse at a Dublin Ohio condo raising awarness of the need for safe decks.

One of the most common issues found with a deck is how the ledger board is attached to the home. Often nailed instead of properly bolted to the home
We frequently will find windows with issues such as broken seals, springs not tight enough, cracked glass or the tilt in latches broken. This window found during a condo inspection in Columbus Ohio had a combination.
Tips on how to baby proof your home.
Here is a video that demonstrates the importance of controlling exterior water and the importance of a sump pump if a home has a basement. Without this sump pump the basement would have flooded. With this risk it would be a good idea to have a backup sump pump system.
This is a back up system I recommend for homes with city water.

I inspected this home a few weeks ago. I was asked to come by to check the work of whoever repaired it. Unfortunately there are still leaks. Not huge leaks however there really should not be any.
Always get the gas lines checked when you are buying a home and then get them checked every few years.

Here is a very short video of a gas leak found during a home inspection in Marysville, Ohio. I have found similar leaks at other cities as well so it is not just an issue found in this one city. I contacted the gas company and they came right out and fixed it. I left a message for the listing agent, so far he has not called back for at least two days now.
